I skimmed a lot of this book, because it got boring. One minute he wants her, nope cannot do relationships football is too important, but then the next thing he is like I got to have her, then wait...he pushes her away after they kiss. It was a lot of back and forth, which I felt the author was trying to build up a climax, but it fell flat to me. Thus I skimmed. At first it said she was blond, then he said he loved auburn hair girls in his head when he met her, then she went back to being described as blond. I was a little confused. The dialog was a little cheesy, thus the skimming. However the storyline has potential.Possible Spoiler alert on how the book plays out - girl is a rebel, she is the new girl at school, and is somewhat beautiful, but her spunk makes her hot. Boy is rich, drives a hummer, lives in a large house (wealthy parents, but Mom has arthritis that makes her sometimes need a wheelchair) and he is the quarterback of the football team. A hometown hero. He wants to go to his dad's alma-mater USC. He thinks being a gamecock is manly (they even chuckle at the name like juveniles.) So, girl is a rebel and tries out for the football team and does not make it, but does it to piss off boy. They also get set up by the teacher to be partners for their computer class and have to do a project together. Girl (character name Montana) mother (Georgia is her name) is an erotic writer on the times best seller list. Girl is embarrassed about Mom's profession and does not want boys in the school to get the wrong idea or know about it, but yet she is a classic flirt and comes across as a Slut, so I think they are already getting that idea. No judgement, just facts. Then the secret is found out (boy sees girl's mom's picture on back of book and puts two and two together even though she writes under a pen name) (aren't pen names to keep your identy secrect, so why would your your picture be on the book? Just asking?), and somehow after he teases her and she acts like she is hurt the boy and girl become boyfriend and girlfriend. You have divorced parents, girl being set up by ex-girlfriend and framed at doing illegal activity, and a lot of silly girl drama. Then the classic dance (which was a debutant ball) and the ex apologizes, and all is right with the world. He gets the scholarship and they go to college together, and have erotic like sex. There are even parties with drinking on the beach. It is a highschool romp. However, I felt the story was robotic and I had read it a million times, but it was better executed by other authors. Just not original and it did not enthrall me, or make me want to read this author again. This is just my opinion. Read my other reviews to see if we have similar tastes. I give it one star for the fact I finished it, but skimmed, and 1 star for starting out ok...but it totally fell flat.
This book is another reason I love SB Alexander's work. Her lead characters have depth and the storyline shows a true depiction of highschool. The secondary characters are just as enjoyable.I will not go into the plot because I do not do spoilers. Definitely worth the read.
Love the Maxwell series by this author. This book was an easy read. I had expected a little more meat to the body of the book after reading the Maxwell series. Still rated with 4 stars as it is a good read. What's not to love about two people meeting and falling in love.
This book was amazing!!!! Montana starts in a new school her senior year and she meets train! They try and avoid each other but a tragic incident happens and they no longer can avoid each other!!! They have some hot chemistry! I love reading Susans books she's very talented!!!
FLOVED this book! I couldn't put this book down it was so good! Breaking Rules was an amazing love story by S.B. Alexander! I fell in love with the characters Train and Montana. Loved the storyline with high school drama and some twists! I definitely recommend this book!
I enjoyed this book. It takes place in high school so I was expecting whiny or immature characters. I was very surprised and happy to say I was wrong. Thus was steamy and sexy and had a good plot. This made a good summer read.
I'm new to S. B. Alexander's book my first of hers was Dare to Kiss and the additional books that followed and they were five stars . Breaking Rules was no different another five stars. She is definitely an author to check out.
This book was fun and entertaining! Easy to read and couldn't out it down. Loved Train and Montana! Great writing S.B
