As always another beautifully created card deck by Doreen Virtue.I will admit I was a bit hesitate about getting this card deck and it's because of the biblical scripture on it.Don't get me wrong I find the scripture on each card absolutely beautiful as well as the pictures she has chosen for each card.It is because I already have a card deck Doreen's beautiful Jesus card deck and tons of books including Doreen's Mornings With The Lord book and all of these have scripture in them.As a card reader it can be hard doing card readings for people with card decks that just have scripture on them.When you pick from a card deck with scriptures you mostly need to pick from for example pick a Jesus card from Doreen's Jesus card deck and then pick a card from her Mother Mary card deck or her Saints and Angels card deck to get clearer self-help advice or a possibly prediction.I saw a review on Youtube about the card deck and saw that Doreen's Love and Lights card deck not only has scripture,but self-help advice or possible predictions as well,so in the end I bought it and very glad I did.I love the fact that she used three different artists for this card deck and not all the cards are similar style very creative.This card deck is a combination of the card decks she has done in the past both in the background and the wording.Beautiful colors seen in the background and abstract like at times.And last but not least scripture and self-help advice on all of the cards which makes it easy for a certified angel card reader,such as myself and others to do card readings for people and use this card deck.Get this card deck you will be glad that you did.

Wow Doreen, you out-did yourself on this Deck! As A transitioning new ager this is such an appealing way to bring people to the truth about God. How we do not need anything else but his presence and he fills in those blanks of the answers we look for that no one can answer. Thank you Doreen, may the lord open doors to continue to put out creative material about Jesus Christ!I was into tarot and the new age movement, until I began to feel like the answers I was receiving was not fulfilling and left me with more unanswered questions. I began to feel anxiety and deeper in depression until I reached Jesus. Lord where can I start, I thought I spoke to God through tarot because I just asked for his presence. But, I had to learn he will give me answers when I am ready not when I want them, but when I need them!(Furthermore, This may be used to explore the topics in the bible and allow the connection in our life.) When I first decided to learn more about classical music, this was the first book I turned to. "The Vintage Guide to Classical Music" is an excellent reference guide for those who love this genre of music but don't know a great deal about it. Using reasonably detailed and very interesting biographical essays on the major composers, author Jan Swafford gives the reader an excellent historical overview of classical music from its beginnings until the early 1990s, when this book was published. Also included are "sidebars" which explain in clear and easy to understand prose different topics such as sonata form, melody, atonal music, etc. Swafford also includes a section which explains how to begin building a classical music library. I found this especially useful in building my own classical CD collection."The Vintage Guide to Classical Music" is extremely well written, and obviously well researched. It's also very entertaining! The author consistently demonstrates not only a wealth of knowledge about his subject, but his love for it as well. For me, this book remains an indispensable guide to classical music. Highly recommended!

Until I got to retirement age, I had been a big fan of classical music without really knowing much about it. I finally ordered this book to get myself some education.The author has his strong opinions, but what the heck, so do I. I am never going to become a fan of atonal music -- in my opinion, the quickest & surest way of emptying a concert hall. But it was a bit disturbing to learn that Richard Strauss was "a pig" and that Bruckner was a "nincompoop" -- not that these facts affect their music in the slightest.Two coincidences strengthened my opinion of this book. I had recently discovered Beethoven's Piano Concerto #4 on YouTube (Bernstein / Zimerman) and it blew me away. Swafford agrees that the Fourth is Beethoven's best piano concerto.The second coincidence was Theodore Dalrymple's very enthusiastic mention of the Haydn String Quartets. I began listening to some of them on YouTube and realized that there was a complete universe of beautiful music I had never noticed before. Swafford has basically the same opinion, that classical music has nothing to compare with the Haydn Quartets.There is a world of excellent information in this book, & I recommend it highly.

It sounds simple enough: write a series of short essays about all the classical composers that truly matter. The result though is actually a coherent and comprehensive tour through the language of the music, the composers themselves, and the evolution of the techniques and orchestration used over the centuries - and it is FUN to read.The writing style is jaunty and descriptive and deeply reflective of the music being described. Try to describe sound, music, has got to be one of the most difficult challenges there is in writing but Jan Swafford never waivers, the book is compelling and colorful all the way through. Picked at random, here's a typical description: "In contrast to the thunderous playing of Liszt, Chopin never used fortissimo but rather shaded his dynamics downward toward the intimate and nearly inaudible." Or how about this description of Wagner: "By the late nineteenth century he would haunt the Western cultural tradition as pervasive myth and sacred monster." You just must read on.This book also provides carefully chosen advice on which music you should start with for each composer. Within the body of the book these are detailed with Swafford usual colorful and concise language. At the back an appendix summarizes are the recommendations. So far this appendix has cost me several hundred dollars in happily spent purchases, with many more to come.If you are at all interested in the subject of classical music then this is a splendid gateway.

Enjoy the book very much. For the non-music major, who has not been exposed to a great deal of "classical music", this is a grand start. If one finds certain sections a little lacking, then it's because we were ready to move on to something other than this book. After all, some have been exposed to classical music early. Others have not, and need a place to start. The suggested playlist in the back is excellent. With the help of the wonders of the Internet, Amazon, Naxos, and other websites, we can figure out what versions of what song we want to hear all by ourselves. But we all have to have somewhere to start. Kudos to the author. Only suggestions I could think of at first read, was to improve the glossary, so that it matches closer the book. Some terms were lacking. Is there a possibility of a second version? Just asking.

I want to join the chorus of praise for this book. It's been my only reading matter since I started it and I put it down only to call up YouTube or to play a CD I happen to own. I love the style - high-flown, personal, inspiring, sometimes touching, sometimes snarky. It got a bit shakey during the section on Wagner - not adequate, perhaps, to the polite expression of the author's opinion of Wagner the man. That's as far as I've got - I'm about to start on Verdi. I was thrilled that the greatest of my musical beloveds, Bach and Schubert, were treated with as much admiration and love as even I could wish. I had a quick look ahead and it seems that another of my favourites, Hugo Wolf, doesn't get a mention. Oh well, one can't expect perfection.The little essays on technical subjects are clear but it's the historical overview that has been really helpful to me. I've got books on most of my favourites but it's nice to have my understanding of their works reinforced and, often, expanded. I also enjoyed seeing just where other composers like Monteverdi and Domenico Scarlatti fitted into musical history and which of their works are the most rewarding - the CDs are winging their way to me. I will have lots more new information to digest as the book heads into the twentieth century and I look forward to developing new tastes, because Jan Swafford is a writer who is not ashamed to share his enthusiasms.

My family just stayed a week in Bocagrande/Cartegena (so I can't speak about how the guide works for the entire country). I can say that VIVA Columbia! was far better than the Lonely Planet Columbia guide we bought for this specific city. I've always used Lonely Planet when traveling and they haven't let me down until now. VIVA was much more comprehensive when it came to explaining the sights in the old city and gave much better restaurant suggestions. Bocagrande (the beach area where local prefer to stay) was not even mentioned in Lonely Planet, but had a detailed write-up in VIVA. We had an excellent stay at the historic Hotel Caribe, which was not even covered in the LP.This book was a great bargain and I'm glad we had it on our tablet, as it far outperformed LP this time around.

I have only recently purchased this travel guide as an e-book and to date, have only browsed through it and read thoroughly a few sections. It appears to be very comprehensive and, unlike most other guide books, it gives the dates on which a section or set of facts were last updated. This is a big plus. Another big plus is the price - about half that of Lonely Planets, for example. One word of warning about the e-book version which applies to all the titles I have downloaded so far: you can increase the size of the text but not the size of maps or tables! This means that you need a good magnifying glass to make any sense of them. So we will be buying a hard version of this book and a big map for our visit to Colombia this winter. We are intending to spend around 6 weeks in the country so we will have a better idea of how good the guide is after that. But, so far, so good!

The feature I believe most people will appreciate about this guide is that it contains up-to-date information. This book is "time-stamped" with the date of the information. Also, you view updates at [...]. Additionally, with my Kindle version, one just needs to tap the links on the pages to view the web pages with additional information. One downside of the Kindle version is the limited viewing of the maps. Otherwise, this book is a good buy.

As I use e books I bought this and the 2013 Lonely Planet as guide books to use during my trip, because I had read all the bad reviews about early versions of LP Colombia guide book.Overall I found this book to be useful and informative but I found myself using the Lonely Planet as my primary source of information and using this as a backup. Overall I found Lonely Planet better laid out, easier to use and more accurate.I liked the fact that this book has the dates that information was last checked, but was concerned when I came across some hotel recommendation that had not been checked for more than 5 years. However it was useful in giving me some ideas for places to stay when the LP options where all booked out.The layout is not optimised for use on ipad or e-readers with no cross referencing and maps that are divided over 2 pages being v difficult to use.But overall I am happy I had this second option and would consider buying these guides again for a second source of information when travelling.

All the information of the sites/places that need to be visited is there. Maybe more information/details could be usefull, but that is part of the adventure isn't it.I totally recomend it

I did the interferon - ribavirin tx years ago without success . I am presently on the olysio/sovaldi tx which is much easier. Unfortunately ONE STEP didn't cover the newer tx which are 96% successful compared to 40% with Intereron combo tx. The problem is it costs $ 150000 and most insurance companies won't cover it yet. A new combo tx is coming out soon and will a lot cheaper. Also more readily covered by insurance companies. MT

Lucinda is a friend of mine and I don't know where she found the time to write a second book. This is for people new to treatment or TX as us oldtimers refer to it. Its a great book to have in hand when you start making the choices for treating your Hep C WTG Lucinda this is a slam out of the park

Arrived quickly and in good condition. Just don't love the actual book as much as I had hoped. But I would still recommend it.

Very depressing book, thought it would be more interesting. I couldn't even read it.

This book by RN Lucinda K. Porter, is an inspiration to me. Though I do not have Hepatitis C if I did this would be the one book that I wold read throughout my treatments. She has wonderful help and guides for you as you go through treatment to keep you positive andaimed in the right direction. Help for all areas of life are found in this book which is set up to help you each day. There are also sources you can also go to for help and to find others who are working through the sme treatments. And, unless you think this is a book by an outsider looking in, she is on her third series of treatments--so she knows.J. Robert Ewbank author "John Wesley, Natural Man, and the Isms" and "Wesley's Wars"
